New Permanent Residency Pathway: Expanding Opportunities for TEER 4 and 5 Workers

A new proposal is on the table to amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. This proposed change introduces a new permanent economic class specifically for workers with experience in TEER 4 and 5 occupations, which cover Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities. The goal is to modernize the economic immigration system by broadening the eligibility for permanent residency to include candidates with a diverse array of skills and experiences. The amendments are expected to be pre-published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, in Fall 2024, with a subsequent publication in Canada Gazette, Part II.

This proposed change is beneficial as it addresses key labour market needs by expanding the pathway to permanent residency for workers in TEER 4 and 5 occupations. By including these workers—who are often employed in essential yet underserved sectors—Canada can better meet its economic demands and support businesses facing labor shortages. The introduction of this new permanent economic class not only diversifies the pool of potential permanent residents but also ensures that skilled individuals who contribute significantly to various industries can continue their roles and integrate more fully into Canadian society. This approach enhances economic stability, drives growth, and fosters a more inclusive immigration system that recognizes a broader range of skills and experiences..

If you believe you might qualify under this new permanent economic class, don’t hesitate to schedule a consultation with us today, to discuss your eligibility and get expert guidance on navigating this new pathway.
