Sevinj Gamarli is an internationally trained lawyer and a licensed Barrister and Solicitor in Ontario whose practice focuses on Canadian immigration and refugee law. With more than six years of experience working in Canadian immigration law before becoming an Ontario lawyer, she brings substantial practical experience, strong legal training, and a first-hand understanding of the immigration process to her work with clients.
Before being called to the Ontario Bar, Sevinj practiced as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, assisting individuals and families with a wide range of Canadian immigration matters. Her practice has included economic immigration, permanent residence applications, family sponsorships, and temporary residence matters, as well as more complex cases involving humanitarian and compassionate considerations, potential inadmissibility, and allegations of misrepresentation.
Sevinj completed her articling term at a law firm focused on refugee protection, where she gained hands-on experience in refugee law and developed a particular interest in representing individuals fleeing persecution, violence, and other serious circumstances of vulnerability. Her combined immigration and refugee experience allows her to assist clients across a broad spectrum of matters, from building their future in Canada through economic and family immigration programs to seeking protection where their safety or ability to remain in Canada is at stake.
Having immigrated to Canada herself, Sevinj understands that immigration is much more than a legal process. The outcome of an immigration or refugee matter can affect a client’s family, career, safety, and future. She brings that perspective to her practice and works closely with clients to understand their individual circumstances, identify potential challenges, and develop a thoughtful strategy for moving their matter forward.
Sevinj has a particular interest in advocating for women, children, and other vulnerable individuals. She is especially committed to assisting clients whose immigration or refugee matters involve gender-based violence, domestic violence, persecution, or other circumstances where protection and access to justice are particularly important.
Her academic background spans both Canadian and international legal systems. Sevinj holds a Global Professional Master of Laws in Canadian Law from the University of Toronto, a Master’s degree with a focus in International Law from Baku State University, and a Bachelor of Laws from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In addition to English, Sevinj speaks Russian and Azerbaijani, allowing her to communicate directly with clients from a range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds and to better understand the context underlying their immigration and refugee matters.
Sevinj approaches her work with careful preparation, strong attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to the people behind each file. She is dedicated to providing clients with clear advice, thoughtful legal strategy, and strong representation throughout the Canadian immigration and refugee process.
