Canada Eases Hong Kong Permanent Residence Pathway Requirements

On July 11, 2023, Paul Chiang, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, and Member of Parliament for Markham- Unionville, announced on behalf of the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, the removal of the education requirement for the Canadian work experience stream (Stream B) of the Hong Kong permanent residence pathways, coming into effect on August 15, 2023. This will allow more Hong Kongers with Canadian work experience to be eligible for permanent residence and will simplify the application process.

Currently the temporary Hong Kong permanent residence pathways consist of the following streams and are valid until August 31, 2026:

o   Stream A (in-Canada graduates)

o   Stream B (individual with Canadian work experience)

Contact us if you are a Hong Kong resident looking to settle in Canada as a permanent resident and wish to apply under the aforementioned programs.
