Alaa Osman, BA, JD, is a Canadian Barrister & Solicitor and member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. She is an Associate Lawyer at AKM Law.
Alaa obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa in June 2021. Prior to law school, Alaa obtained her undergraduate degree from Qatar University, located in Doha Qatar, where she lived for approximately six years. There, Alaa majored in English Literature and Linguistics and completed a minor in Philosophy. After returning to Canada, Alaa made the decision to pursue a legal education because of her passion for human rights and interest in supporting vulnerable communities. During law school, Alaa participated in practicum and clinic courses that grew her interest in refugee and immigration law, such the Refugee Sponsorship Support Program which matched sponsor groups pro-bono lawyers and law students to offer legal assistance to refugees and expedite their process. During law school, Alaa completed an internship at Mahdi Weinstock LLP where she focused on preparing refugee claims.
Upon graduating, Alaa completed her articles with Clivio Law and began practicing as an associate lawyer with AKM Law in 2022. Alaa now practices in refugee and immigration law; focusing on Humanitarian and Compassionate applications (H&Cs), refugee claims, spousal applications and spousal appeals.
Alaa enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
